THE PLAY "GULLIVER WISHES TO GROW UP" INVITES FAMILIES TO A MAGICAL JOURNEY THROUGH TIME
On 16 and 17 November, Vilnius Theatre LĖLĖ will present a new puppet and shadow play Gulliver Wishes to Grow Up for the entire family, which will open the door to a magical time travel. Inspired by Jonathan Swift's classic novel Gulliver's Travels, the play invites young audiences and adults alike to remember the multifaceted and colourful journey of human life.
According to the director, the play Gulliver Wishes to Grow Up is not only for children but also for adults. It is an invitation to think about the passage of time and human growth not only as a physical process, but also as a spiritual and emotional process. “I really wanted to talk to both children and adults about the passage of time, about how people grow up and get older. I noticed that children want to grow up and when they grow up they want to go back,” says the director.
Milda Mičiulytė, the director of the play, says that Gulliver Wishes to Grow Up is not only a story about growing up, but also an opportunity to remember that every moment we experience now is priceless. “With this play, I want to show and remind children and their parents that the best time is not in the past or in the future, but it is right now. In addition, the choice of a theatre-within-the-theatre format is intended to help children and parents understand that with imagination, any kind of play, even with the simplest objects, can be fun,” shares the director.
The premiere of the puppet and shadow play Gulliver Wishes to Grow Up will take place at Vilnius Theatre LĖLĖ on 16 and 17 November.
